ABOUT US

Our laboratory conducts fundamental research to noninvasively measurement of the state of people or plants, by analyzing lights, sound waves, vibrations, etc.

As a theme of a medical system for people, we are currently studying on the possibility of the estimation of elasticity of blood vessel (that is, vascular age) from sphygmogram oscillation (Korotkoff sound in the case of listening on a stethoscope) which appears when compressing the upper arm in blood pressure measurement. If this can be realized, it becomes possible to display vessel information such as vascular age in addition to the highest and lowest blood pressure, when measuring blood pressure at home.

On the other hand, as a research targeting plants, we are conducting a research to estimate how much the plant currently desires the water (i.e., water stress of plants) from the change in natural frequency of leaf. If this is possible, optimum irrigation control in the plant factory of soil cultivation will be realized.
